Hymen Springs at Mammoth Hot Springs – Yellowstone National Park – Hiking Wyoming

On the return to Gardiner, Montana and following the amazing hike into Gardiner Canyon for an outstanding hiking experience at Osprey Fall, a serious accident on the highway prevents leaving Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA.

A vehicle has tragically driven off the side of the steep access road and tumbled into a deep canyon to the creek below creating a delay of at least a couple of hours before anyone can get through.

This delay, for very unfortunate reasons, provides us with the opportunity to photograph a hot spring site tucked away to the side of Mammoth Hot Springs along the trail to Beaver Flats.  This small but spectacular location is named Hymen Springs.

By late afternoon, emergency vehicles have cleared the road from Yellowstone National Park to allow the short drive to Gardiner, Montana for the final night before beginning the trip home to Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
